Hey Gareth! Good to hear from you!

How are things going? What are you up to nowadays? Are you still writing? I remember enjoying reading your dark punchy and somewhat grizzly short stories each week.

The working world isn't all bad! I really enjoyed the job I had prior to this one at TVU and I suppose this negative experience was a good one in some respects. It certainly shook me out of my "any job will do" attitude! My personal experience on change is that everyone talks it up, but very few are willing to truly back it up.

What a horrible sounding group of people. It has almost made me resolve to never get a job again.
I think you'll find that sort of attitude in most places though. After all, the thing most people are afraid of is change.

This did make me laugh, Luke! You have a way with conveying awkward topics :)

I am afraid I'm with Reda on this one. Aesthetics before anything else! OK, we all want things to work, but it's so much more pleasing if they look good whilst they work.

I have some jeans (which I'm wearing right now) that have 2 buttons AND a zip. The zip is so good, you can walk around with the buttons undone after a particularly good meal with no one the wiser. I have owned some cropped jeans in the past that only had buttons tho, which was a little awkward because 1. the gaps between the buttons got sretched wider after every wash and 2. there were so damn many when you wanted to go to the loo. So I understand your plight after all. But it's nothing to worry about since there is a great variety of jeans that come with zips rather than buttons!

hahah, what a passionate polemic... i personally don't understand your problem with button-up jeans... i've always found they're pretty easy to do-up and undo. actually, no, that's a lie... years ago i had some button-up jeans which were problematic cos the buttonholes were quite tight, but that was just one instance... every other time i've encountered them, they've been totally fine to work with! ... but then, i'm not a guy...

ideally, form and function unite... why not practicality AND aesthetics, why does one have to come above another? ... Having said that, I'm often inclined to favour fashion over function! x
